In response to the growing demand for new cars equipped with complex electronic systems in the Chinese automotive industry, BASF has launched the Ultramed Seal Fit solution. This solution adopts an injection molding system, specifically designed for plastic sealing of metal inserts, which can reduce the risk of electronic equipment failure caused by contact with moisture or oil, thereby significantly improving the safety of electronic systems.

This transparent Ultramed Seal Fit special polyamide has excellent adhesion to metals and plastic materials such as Ultramed, making it easy to wrap and shape the metal embedded conductive path of electronic components, forming a good seal and providing greater freedom for the design of electronic components. In addition, Ultramed Seal Fit can be implemented on standard injection molding equipment without the need for subsequent processing or the use of expensive additives, resulting in a significant cost advantage.

Previously, due to the adhesive force between plastic and metal and the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the two materials, it was difficult to achieve complete sealing of metal inserts. Even with complex sealing methods such as adhesive coating and pre coating, the effect was still unsatisfactory. The BASF Engineering Plastics R&D team in Greater China evaluated the metal components coated with Ultra Seal Fit, and the results showed that the solution can completely prevent the penetration of oil, water, and gas. At present, Ultra Seal Fit has been widely used in the production of ABS anti lock braking systems, electronic stability systems, airbag control, sensors, and plug connectors to meet the requirements of more advanced automotive electronic devices.
